Frequently asked questions

What guests ask most often

Arrival, parking, dogs, facilities and stairs. If you cannot find the answer here, write to us — we usually reply within 24 hours.

Booking and arrival

  • How do I book an apartment with you?

You can complete a booking directly on this site in the reservation system — choose your dates and the number of guests and you will see straight away what is free and at what price. You can also write to us by e-mail or call; we will come back with an offer and confirm the booking in writing.

  • What time can I check in, and when do I have to leave?

You can check in between 15:00 and 24:00. On the day of departure, please vacate the apartment by 10:00.

  • How are the keys handed over when there is no reception?

Arrival is self-service and you collect the keys from a coded key box. We send you the code and the exact instructions before you travel, so please let us know in advance roughly when you will arrive.

  • How and when is the stay paid for?

We agree the method and timing of payment with you when the booking is confirmed. The total price for the stay and all the conditions reach you in writing before you decide.

  • What is the cancellation policy?

Cancellation terms vary with the dates and the length of stay. You will receive the specific terms for your booking in the confirmation, so that you have them in black and white.

  • What languages can I use with you?

You can speak Czech, German, English or Russian with us. The apartments are run by the owner directly, so the person answering you is the one who knows the house.

Apartments and facilities

  • How are the apartments equipped?

Each of the eight apartments has a fully equipped kitchen counter (fridge, dishwasher, oven, hob, microwave, kettle, coffee machine, toaster and crockery), a dining table, a bathroom with a shower or bathtub, a WC, a flat-screen TV, heating and a wardrobe. Wi-Fi is free.

  • Do I need to bring my own towels and bed linen?

No. Bed linen, towels and basic toiletries are ready for you in the apartment.

  • Do you serve breakfast?

We do not offer breakfast. You can make coffee in your own kitchen in the morning, and if you would rather not cook, Staročeská restaurace is about 100 m away, Velkopopovická pivnice Orion 50 m, Bar pekárna 100 m and Restaurant Panorama 250 m.

  • Do you have a cot? Can extra beds be added?

We can prepare a cot on request, subject to availability — please ask for one when you enquire. We do not offer extra beds; the capacity of each apartment is fixed.

  • Is there a lift? Will I manage the stairs?

There is no lift in the building and the upper floors are reached by stairs. We do not recommend the attic maisonettes to guests with limited mobility, as the upper level is reached by a wooden ladder. If stairs are a problem for you, tell us when you enquire and we will offer you a ground-floor apartment.

  • Do you have a spa, a pool or a restaurant?

No — the house is for accommodation only and we have none of these services on site. Restaurants and beer halls are in the neighbouring streets, and the spa centre is a five-minute walk away.

Parking and transport

  • Where can I park?

The house has three garage spaces at CZK 500 a night, for our guests only. You book one separately from your stay — online on the Parking page or by phone — and pay on arrival; the night you leave is not charged, and the space is yours once we confirm it. The private car park is available by prior arrangement. Book ahead, so that you are not circling the spa quarter.

  • How far is it to the colonnade?

The Mill Colonnade is about five minutes away, 350 metres. The Market Colonnade and the Vřídlo hot spring are roughly 500 metres away.

  • Can I reach you by public transport?

Yes. The Imperial stop is 250 to 350 metres from the house, and the Divadelní náměstí stop roughly 400 metres.

  • How far are the airports and the main sights nearby?

Karlovy Vary airport is 3 kilometres away and Václav Havel Airport in Prague 106 kilometres. The nearest trips are the Diana Lookout Tower (2.1 km) and the Jan Becher Museum (2.1 km), then the Moser glassworks (4.8 km), Loket Castle (16 km) and Klínovec (30 km); the Deer Spring in the forest is 1.1 km.

Pets and house rules

  • Can I bring my dog?

Yes, pets are welcome by prior arrangement for a fee. Please let us know when you enquire what animal you are bringing and how big it is.

  • Is smoking allowed in the apartments?

No, the whole house is non-smoking — both apartments and common areas.

  • Can we hold a party or a stag night here?

Parties and stag or hen nights are not permitted. The house stands in the spa quarter and guests come here for the quiet, which we want to keep.

  • Are the apartments suitable for families with children?

Yes. Couples and families with children both stay with us, and with small children a kitchen of your own is worth a great deal. A cot is available on request, subject to availability; in the attic apartments, expect a wooden ladder to the upper level.

Gift vouchers

  • What can a gift voucher be used for?

For accommodation in any of the eight apartments, up to the value stated on the voucher. It cannot be used for the local stay charge, parking or other services. Packages such as “A Weekend for Two” are vouchers for a fixed amount — the name says what the value usually covers, but the price of the stay is set by the price list at the time of booking. The voucher is a bearer voucher: anyone who knows its code can redeem it.

  • How long is a voucher valid, and how do I redeem it?

A voucher is valid for 3 months from the day of payment; the exact date is on the voucher. Before then, send us a redemption request — via the link in the e-mail with your voucher, or by e-mail or telephone with the voucher code — and give the dates and the number of guests. We then create the booking and confirm it to you. The stay itself may take place after the voucher has expired, subject to availability.

  • What if the stay costs more or less than the voucher?

If it costs more, you pay the difference under the terms of stay. If it costs less, the balance stays on the voucher and you can use it for another stay until the voucher expires. A voucher cannot be exchanged for cash and the balance is not paid out, but you can use several vouchers for one stay.

  • How do I pay for a voucher, and when will I receive it?

By bank transfer. Straight after ordering you receive an e-mail with the payment details and your order number, which you give as the payment reference; payment is due within 7 days. As soon as the payment arrives, we send you the voucher as a PDF, usually within one working day — you can print it or forward it straight to the recipient.
